This qualification reflects the role of individuals working as developing and emerging leaders and managers in a range of enterprise and industry contexts.
As well as assuming responsibility for their own performance, individuals at this level are likely to provide leadership, guidance and support to others. They may also have some responsibility for organising and monitoring the output of teams.
They apply solutions to a defined range of predictable and unpredictable problems, and analyse and evaluate information from a variety of sources.
The Certificate IV in Leadership and Management is designed to develop a broad range of competencies including:
- Demonstrate leadership in the workplace, including how to lead and facilitate a team
- Coordinate business operational plans
- Apply communication strategies in the workplace, and how to develop and use emotional intelligence
- Implement and monitor WHS policies, procedures, and programs
- Undertake project work
- Build and maintain business relationships

Most students will finish the course in 12 months.
Students may complete the program earlier than these timelines through achievement of RPL, credit transfer or competency-based progression through the course, but students who are new to industry will most likely take longer to complete.

There are no entry requirements for this qualification, with the exception of the completion of a Pre-enrolment Review.
