Are you looking for a career change? The  Certificate II In Security Operations will give you the theoretical knowledge and practical skills you need to work as a security officer in shopping centres, pubs and nightclubs, building sites,  on patrol and more. You will learn to undertake the responsibilities of a security guard in a lawful, ethical and effective way.

To gain employment in the security industry in Queensland, you must hold a valid Security Licence issued by the Office of Fair Trading (QLD). In order to qualify you will need to complete an approved training course as specified by the Security Provider Act 1993. This certificate is a nationally recognised qualification and will be recognised any where in Australia as an entry level qualification in security.

Duration:Self paced study and classroom time.
Prerequisites:There are no prerequisites to this course, however students should ensure that they are aware of licensing requirements (such as age restrictions and disqualifying offences).

Outcomes:Skills and knowledge required to work as a Security Officer and meeting the training requirements to apply for an Unarmed Security Officers licence in Queensland.
Notes:This course is offered as a flexible course, including completion of a workbook and involves classroom training.

Outcomes and Opportunities

On successful completion of the Australian Training Academy’s Certificate II in Security Operations Training Course, participants will be provided with a Certificate II in Security Operations qualification and may apply to the Department of Fair Trading (QLD) for a Security Officer (unarmed) / Crowd Controller Licence. Opportunities include employment as a static or mobile security guard which are widely used in the retail, building and entertainment industries.
